Why I Have a Tough Time With Holidays

""It’s Friday and I missed my newsletter deadline yesterday. My excuse?

Erm, I don’t really have a “good” one.

Except to say that my family and I took advantage of the Alberta Heritage Day holiday and spent an extra long weekend hanging out on brain break in beautiful British Columbia.

Here’s the thing though: I’m not one of those entrepreneurs who comes back from a vacay refreshed and ready to rock the keyboard. I’m actually quite the opposite. The longer I’m out of the groove, the harder I find it to get BACK into the groove.

And that’s not because I don’t luuurve what I do.

It’s a momentum thing. My work is part of my lifestyle. When I get out of the creative flow, it’s really hard to get back in.

In which case I have to just walk the high dive, scrunch my eyes shut, and JUMP.

(Else I’d forever have an excuse to never take a holiday, which isn’t entirely wise …)

This little Jedi Mind Trick works in all kinds of situations, from writing a blog post to calling up that hot prospect to creating something new and exciting in your biz.

The only hard part is the millisecond before you jump. After that, you’re already speeding through space, so what else can you do but breathe, go with the flow, and wait for the big splash?

If You’re Standing on the High Dive But Can’t Seem to Jump …

I’d like to remind you of the upcoming Dare to Act! Marketing Intensive, happening September 21, 22 and 23. It’s totally online yet 100% engaging. If you have a heartbeat — and have heart — NOT getting a ton of business-building mojo from this experience will be next to impossible.

And if you haven’t already, make sure to register for the next round of no-free training calls while you’re there. Because if you’re teetering on the brink of offering something new to your people, but you’re hesitating … well, these calls (and the event!) are for YOU.

See you in September?

Do me a favor: This weekend do something – anything – that feels a little outside your comfort zone. It could literally be jumping off that high dive board. Or maybe you change up your morning routine with the kids. OR … maybe you start hatching a plan for your next big thang in your biz.

Whatever it is, have faith in what’s on the other side of that scary millisecond before you jump :)
